This journal is a reflection of my thoughts and experiences from the past several months. It's for anyone who is currently looking into hobbies or careers, not just art.

During my time as an artist, I get comments from people telling me that I have Inspired them to draw. I love that, I really love it when someone tells me that they started drawing because of my own work. It feels good knowing my work has that ability to provoke action in others. However, lately I had some close friends and associates get discouraged...to the point where they stop their strive altogether, because of my work.  This isn't speculation, it's direct information from the source. It's disheartening to see that happen, so if you are feeling the same way, please take note of the rest of this journal.

Don't strive for popularity.
This seems to be the root for the majority of problems I've seen. I've seen many beginners start drawing expecting a large amount of watchers and comments to happen.  Or an experienced artist with amazing abilities, get discouraged seeing another artist with a plainer style get 1000s of views.  It's all just statistics! The number of watchers, or the amount of views/comments you get does not matter. Worrying about this can drive you insane and take away the joy in creating something.

Comparing Yourself To Others
This could be good or bad. One, it could inspire to push harder and to expand your skills.  Two...it could discourage you altogether. Admittedly, the latter has happened to me personally time to time. I think everyone have experienced feeing insignificant at one point, it's okay and does happen. The way I snap myself out of that negativity, is by analyzing the artwork that discouraged me. Turning my thoughts "I can never do that" into "okay, how can I do that?" I then create small easy steps to train and improve myself.

Don't Hide
When discouraged, you may refrain or hide from the artwork or person that caused the anxiety. Don't hide! In fact it does more harm than good because you are preventing yourself from overcoming self-doubt. I've known some avoid my art live streams all together due to this, or even stop their streams if I happen to be live streaming myself. Again, that's normal. However, no one should hide themselves for those reasons. Keep looking at art and streams, to get inspired and for reference! Don't hide.

That's all I'll say for now, but the bottom line is...don't get discouraged.
