Art Study_Animal Concept1 by Tsitra360 Art Study_Animal Concept1 by Tsitra360
I decided to try concepting an animal out of the blue. No references or guidelines, just...draw. So I kept it simple with a dragon/lizard/dinosaur. So what would you name it? Not a personal name but species.

More anatomy study you need.
And work with refferences. You will learn faster.

That's why I didn't try going overboard with abundant muscles or crazy head anatomies. Before I try designing odd anatomies I do need to study existing anatomy. It's interesting how most animals on Earth has a set pattern in their bone structure.

Because every animal on the Earth divided from common ancestor.

I like the position of the one in the middle. It reminds me of a posing cat on a shed watching things from afar.

Haha, wow, it's been so long that I've gone through my DevWatch! To be honest, I can't believe how much you've improved since you first starting drawing dragons. I mean, you were never bad, but your anatomy and foreshortening had always been awkward. It's cool to see you've found a comfortable style to work with and that you seem to be good at it too! I think this is a really cool dragon design as well! Great job on this, Tsitra!

This is actually rather close to an idea for a race I'm using in a story I'm writing... A fire-based race called the Raz.

Draco attelebis

means wingless dragon in latin.

Hmm, not really a dragon. Probably should've not added horns ^^; So the attelebis means wingless then?

Aye. Draco doesn't necessarily mean "Dragon" more along the lines of lizard.

This is a really cool Concept. I love how it can stand on it's hind legs, but appears to be able to walk around on all four. I could imagine him or her in a mountain or plains environment.

Alright as you say.
By the way, we once had a talk when i showed you one of my models, adn you said i should try modelliing something different, i thought about it recently and a question came to my mind: If i try drawing in other style, will it help me to improve in any way?

Oh yeah definitely. Also, drawing other creatures is another way to self improvement. And they don't have to be fantasy.

Like I said before in the LS, I liked how you did this with no ref and I enjoy the middle one for being like '...why are you looking at me?"

I still am gonna go with Scuba Steve. Personal name anyway. No idea for species.
